News Release – Measurement Specialties

Measurement Specialties, Inc. is now in full production of its model 834/834M1 miniature, triaxial accelerometers for OEM and Test and Measurement (T&M) applications. These low cost, board mountable triaxial accelerometers are designed for high amplitude embedded shock applications.
Each model offers a maximum current consumption of 4 micro-amps and incorporates power and signal conditioning. The model 834 is available in ±2000g to ±6000g ranges and provides a flat frequency response up to 2kHz. The model 834M1 provides an extended frequency range to 6kHz.
These units are hermetically sealed and operate in temperatures from -20° to +80°C. Each incorporates piezo-ceramic crystals in shear mode that ensure stable temperature performance of the operating range of the accelerometer. Additional temperature compensation can be accomplished by using an external ASIC with onboard temperature sensing to further correct temperature induced errors.
The small size of the 834/834M1 (0.74” x .0.56” x 0.14”) facilities ease of mounting in space-restricted areas while their excitation requirements (3.3 to 5.5 Vdc) can be met with standard electrical configurations. This makes them ideal for small laboratory or large scale test and monitoring projects/programs for impact measurements, data logging, asset tracking and blast effects in industries ranging from civil engineering to defense.
The Vibration Design Center in Aliso Viejo, CA spearheads Measurement Specialties' global initiative to expand its accelerometer and vibration sensing business with customers in the automotive, medical, military/aerospace and T&M marketplace. This center builds on the company's platform sensing technologies in silicon MEMS, piezoelectric polymer film, piezoelectric ceramic and bonded gage.
